HILTON CLASSIC PANTO

This is a Hilton Classic panto frame (Boston) from the 1970s.

A versatile shape that can be summed up in one word: easy to use.

The frame itself is very lightweight, so you can insert prescription lenses and use it for everyday use.

It's perfect.

The design of the mountain-shaped bridge is also wonderful.

In October 1973, the Fourth Arab-Israeli War caused oil prices to soar, resulting in the first oil crisis.

This caused a surge in prices, and the price of gold also rose sharply.

In order to reduce costs, plating techniques for thin layers of gold were developed.

This frame was made before the oil crisis.

The back of the bridge is stamped 14KT RG.

This means 14 carat rolled gold, or 14-karat gold plated.

Gold plating is a luxurious process that uses a lot of gold compared to later plating.
